Chapter 808 - Elemental Flux Seal
Chapter 808 - Elemental Flux Seal
Han Wu peered up at Veritas. It was still only in its dragon soul form, but even then, the pressure it emanated was strong enough to feel as though Han Wu was facing a World life form. This was only Veritas’s soul. How strong was its complete form?
Veritas roared down at the two tiny figures below, eyes fixed on Han Wu.
“Insignificant human, why is the aura of the Defier on you?” Veritas demanded.
“Because I’m the Defier. You told me there was a treasure here that would make even a Dragon King envious. Where is it?”
Veritas laughed. “You’re without doubt the most foolish Defier I’ve ever met. I only said that to make you destroy this altar and free me.”
“Then what’s under the Sealing Gate Sect?” Han Wu asked again.
“Beneath the Sealing Gate Sect is a million-year-old ancient tree empowered by Seal Arts. That rotten tree ate into my body and absorbed my power, which left me no choice but to abandon my physical form and escape the seal as a soul!”
Han Wu had anticipated something along these lines. He had come to destroy the altar, fully prepared to be deceived by Veritas, but the dragon had unknowingly been right. There really was something here worth making a Dragon King envious. It was Veritas’s own soul. Han Wu genuinely wanted a soul this large and pure for himself.
Veritas remained oblivious to Han Wu’s greedy eyes. Instead, its gaze drifted over to Qin Shuang.
“Foolish Defier, in consideration of your dragon bloodline, I’ll let you go. Your companion, however, stays. It’s been a long time since I’ve had fresh meat.”
Furious that Veritas would bite the hand that fed it, Han Wu activated his Seal Arts. “Eight-Ring Evil Seal!”
The energy took on the form of the Feral Beast and charged at Veritas, but the Feral Beast shattered on impact. The seal failed.
Veritas laughed mockingly. “Is that all you’ve got? Foolish Defier, since you freed me, I’ll give you one chance. I’ll stand here and let you try to seal me. Show me what you can do.”
Han Wu was more than willing to accept those terms. Since the Evil Seal didn’t work, he switched to the eight-Ring Reaper Seal. The pale phantom manifested behind him, reached out, and grabbed Veritas’s soul. It pulled and pulled, but only managed to tear off its own arm. The Reaper Seal was nowhere near Veritas’s level.
Han Wu changed tactics once more. “Elemental Flux Seal.”
As a seven-Ring Seal Art, it would normally have been weaker, but its power scaled with every elemental attribute its user had. In the three days before coming to the altar, Han Wu had roamed the Coiling Dragon Forest and captured beasts with unusual elemental attributes using the Four Guardians Seal.
Hundreds of special elemental types now resided in his consciousness. Drawing on all of them at once meant his Elemental Flux Seal had grown to match an eleven-Ring art in power.
The Elemental Flux Seal activated, and hundreds of elemental types burst forth simultaneously and severed all other energy flows in the surrounding space. Veritas needed to absorb Soul Energy and Wicked Energy to survive, but the Elemental Flux Seal cut off both sources, draining its strength enormously.
It was at this moment that Veritas finally recognized Han Wu as dangerous. It tried to escape, but there was nowhere to run. The Elemental Flux Seal had already closed off every exit.
Veritas was cornered with no way to escape. It watched helplessly as hundreds of elemental threads wound around its body like fine silk. While each individual thread was thin, a hundred working together were more than enough to hold a dragon’s soul. All that awaited it was being sealed.
Sensing its fate, Veritas decided it had nothing to lose by pleading again. “Noble Defier, I beg your mercy. In the name of our shared bloodline, please forgive me this once. I do actually know of a treasure a Dragon King would envy. Release me, and I’ll take you there myself.”
Its tone had completely shifted. The derision had been exchanged for respect and reverence. This was the voice of someone adaptable.
Unfortunately for Veritas, Han Wu was not going to listen this time. He tightened the elemental threads further to reinforce the seal. Once he was certain Veritas could not break free, he activated his highest-rated Seal Art, the Four Guardians Seal.
Dozens of chains shot out from Han Wu’s torso and pulled Veritas toward his consciousness. Once inside, everything about Veritas would belong to Han Wu.
Veritas could tell this was not a good situation and struggled furiously. Even with Han Wu exerting full effort, he could not drag Veritas all the way in.
Qin Shuang stepped up and activated her own nine-Ring Four Guardians Seal. Dozens of her own chains shot out from her torso, latching onto one of Veritas’s legs and one of its wings. Veritas was being tugged from two directions simultaneously.
Is this a tug of war? it wondered bleakly to itself.
Even in its diminished state, Veritas was still a Great Dragon, and a Great Dragon stood above all things. Veritas roared in fury, but it broke off into a wail as its soul was torn to pieces. Its leg and wing, pulled by Qin Shuang’s chains, disappeared into her body.
The pain of a torn soul caused Veritas to briefly lose focus. By the time it recovered, it had already been dragged into Han Wu’s consciousness. The other beasts within Han Wu’s consciousness immediately went quiet, not even letting out so much as a squeak in fear of disturbing the dragon.
As the original alpha of Han Wu’s consciousness space, the Feral Beast felt it prudent to assert itself, and it let out a warning cry in Veritas’s direction. “Behave yourself, or I’ll hit you.”
“Get out of my face,” Veritas roared back.
The Feral Beast trembled, experiencing the same helplessness it had felt facing Han Wu.
Han Wu then entered the space, his presence as a twelve-Ring Seal Master pressing down on Veritas.
“You have two options. Lend me your power, or die. Your choice.”
