Pokemon: My Pokemon Has a Tailed Beast Template

Chapter 295: Ghostly Tricks

Chapter 295: Ghostly Tricks

At this moment, Erika's expression finally became completely serious.

"Bullet Seed!"

Vileplume launched another barrage of seeds toward Steelix.

This time, however, Jasmine did not order Steelix to use Gyro Ball again.

Instead—

"Iron Defense!"

A metallic sheen instantly spread across Steelix's massive body.

At the same time, thick stone walls rose from underground, blocking the incoming seeds completely.

The battlefield trembled under the impact.

But while the stone walls protected Steelix, they also blocked its vision.

Against agile Pokémon, that would normally be dangerous.

But Vileplume was not a speed-focused Pokémon, so Jasmine was not worried.

"Seed Bomb!"

Vileplume suddenly stopped firing Bullet Seeds.

Then it inhaled deeply before launching a gigantic glowing seed forward.

BOOM!!!

The stone wall shattered apart instantly.

But Erika's eyes narrowed.

Steelix was gone.

At some point, it had already circled behind Vileplume.

"Iron Tail!"

The steel tail slammed downward violently.

Because Vileplume had just used a large attack, it had no time to dodge.

But Erika remained calm.

"Substitute!"

The tail smashed through another substitute doll.

Meanwhile, Vileplume reappeared safely nearby once again.

Erika had already used Substitute multiple times during the battle.

Clearly, she was going all out now.

"Sunny Day!"

"Grassy Terrain!"

Two field-changing techniques activated simultaneously.

Sunlight brightened the battlefield while green grass rapidly spread across the ground.

Then Vileplume opened its petals again.

This time, it launched a dark-purple sphere.

"Sludge Bomb!"

The poisonous sludge moved far faster than the previous Bullet Seeds.

It exploded directly against Steelix's body.

BOOM!!!

The massive steel serpent was blasted sideways violently.

Even Steelix looked seriously injured after taking that hit head-on.

Jasmine immediately shouted back.

"Steelix!"

The huge Pokémon steadied itself again.

Then suddenly—

Stone walls rose around Vileplume once more.

The flower Pokémon was trapped again.

And this time—

"Sand Tomb!"

Sand surged violently within the rocky prison.

The grinding sandstorm trapped Vileplume completely.

From the audience stands, Sam watched carefully.

This move reminded him somewhat of the sand-burial techniques used by his own Tyranitar after inheriting the Shukaku template.

The principles were similar.

Though naturally, the power difference was enormous.

Inside the Sand Tomb, Vileplume seemed to be in terrible condition.

Many spectators already believed Jasmine was about to win.

But suddenly—

Something strange appeared on Steelix's body.

Several vines sprouted directly from its metallic frame.

Then they tightened rapidly around it.

Jasmine's eyes widened slightly.

Meanwhile, Erika finally relaxed.

"That's Vileplume's hidden setup," Erika explained calmly. "When Steelix attacked earlier, Leech Seed was already planted on it."

The vines tightened harder and harder.

The rocky prison gradually crumbled apart.

And finally—

Steelix collapsed to the ground completely unable to continue battling.

The referee raised the flag immediately.

"Steelix is unable to battle! Vileplume wins!"

"Kanto ties the score, 2–2!"

The audience burst into cheers once more.

Jasmine recalled Steelix with a smile.

"You're stronger, Erika."

Erika laughed softly.

"You're amazing too."

Even after deciding victory and defeat, the two best friends showed no hostility toward each other at all.

The fourth battle ended with Erika's victory.

The overall score had now become 2–2.

The next match would be between Brock of Pewter Gym and Morty of Ecruteak Gym.

Brock sent out his Golem.

Morty chose Gengar.

Pokémon: Gengar

Attribute: Ghost/Poison

Category: Shadow Pokémon

Ability: Cursed Body

Hidden Ability: None

Strength: Beginner Elite Level

Pokémon: Golem

Attribute: Rock/Ground

Category: Megaton Pokémon

Ability: Sturdy

Hidden Ability: Sand Veil

Strength: Beginner Elite Level

Both Pokémon were at the same general level.

However, everyone could see the matchup problem immediately.

Golem was powerful and durable, but extremely slow.

Against a slippery Ghost-type like Gengar, that was a major disadvantage.

Brock attacked first.

"Rock Slide!"

Huge boulders erupted upward from the battlefield and crashed toward Gengar.

But Gengar floated away strangely with eerie laughter.

Ghost-type Pokémon were mysterious by nature.

Their battle styles were often bizarre and difficult to predict.

Suddenly—

Gengar vanished.

The next instant, it appeared beside Golem.

"Shadow Punch!"

The dark fist slammed directly into Golem.

However, Brock's Golem possessed the Sturdy Ability.

The damage from the Ghost-type attack was limited.

"Sand Attack!"

Sand exploded outward from Golem's body.

But Gengar had already disappeared again.

Seeing that normal attacks could barely touch the ghost Pokémon, Brock changed tactics immediately.

"Bide!"

Since Golem could not keep up with Gengar's speed, Brock decided to rely on defense and endurance instead.

After all, Golem's durability was extremely high.

But Morty clearly anticipated this strategy already.

Gengar circled around Golem rapidly.

Then suddenly—

Golem's body froze slightly.

It looked as though it had suffered a mental shock.

"Mean Look!"

A strange purple light flashed from Gengar's eyes.

No matter how strong Golem's physical defense was, it could not resist mental interference techniques like this.
