Chapter 288 Opening Up a New Perspective
Chapter 288 Opening Up a New Perspective
Everyone saw Lu Zhou drink that bowl of soup!
Shen Li felt a wave of helplessness and had no idea how to explain it.
Lan Wei added, "Lili, you don't need to explain, we all understand. How could an outstanding person not have a few suitors? We can totally accept that!"
Lu Zhou chimed in, "Sister Li, look how broad-minded your friend is. You should broaden your horizons too."
Shen Li slowly turned her head, looking at Lu Zhou with a forced smile: "Hehehe... So it seems my perspective is too narrow?"
Lu Zhou froze under her gaze, his facial features contorting in pain.
Ming Xiangyang, who was not far away, saw the whole scene clearly, especially the shoe that Shen Li had quietly stepped on Lu Zhou's foot under the table.
A barely perceptible hint of darkness flashed across his eyes: she would never treat herself like this.
And that night... was it Lu Zhou who helped her take the antidote?
What exactly is wrong with him? Why does she never even notice him?
Ming Xiangyang's eyes darkened slightly, and his fingertips unconsciously tightened their grip on the edge of the table.
Just then, a slender figure walked over quickly.
She followed Ming Xiangyang's gaze and her heart suddenly tightened. A bitter feeling mixed with anger surged up, leaving her feeling terrible.
That woman is so fickle!
Didn't you say you had a boyfriend? How come you're entangled with a freshman again?
That's simply...incomprehensible.
She quickly concealed the fierceness on her face, her voice softening slightly: "Xiangyang..."
Ming Xiangyang looked up, his expression indifferent as ever: "What is it?"
Wang Chuxi forced a fawning smile and leaned closer: "I was wrong about what happened before. I shouldn't have been so willful. Let's not break up, okay?"
Ming Xiangyang frowned slightly, his tone turning cold: "I've already made it very clear, we're not a good match."
Wang Chuxi bit her lower lip hard, ignoring his coldness, and sat down directly beside him, her voice choked with sobs: "It was my fault, I shouldn't have been jealous. I'll change in the future, please give me another chance, okay?"
"Don't make me say it a second time." Ming Xiangyang's voice was already filled with impatience.
The embarrassment of being rejected instantly overwhelmed Wang Chuxi's rationality. She suddenly raised her voice: "Did someone seduce you? Otherwise, why were you so determined to break up with me!"
Her voice was shrill, and people dining nearby turned to look at her.
Although Peking University is large and has many departments, it only has two dining halls. At this moment, although the dining hall was not yet overcrowded, Wang Chuxi's movements instantly attracted the attention of everyone around her.
Shen Li followed everyone's gaze and looked over.
Xie Mei, standing beside her, lowered her voice, her tone tinged with gossip: "Is that Wang Chuxi? I heard that Ming Xiangyang broke up with her during the holidays, but she's been pestering him ever since, and keeps coming to our department to ask about Ming Xiangyang."
Ming Xiangyang's eyes grew increasingly dark, and his face turned as black as ink.
"Let's part amicably, don't make things too awkward." His voice was low, tinged with suppressed displeasure. "If you feel you've lost face, you can tell everyone that you dumped me."
His voice wasn't loud, and Shen Li couldn't hear what they were saying at all.
Wang Chuxi suddenly turned her head, her resentful gaze shooting straight at Shen Li.
Shen Li looked completely bewildered, not understanding why she had suddenly been targeted with such anger.
Ming Xiangyang followed her gaze, his brows furrowing even more: "It has nothing to do with anyone else, don't make trouble for yourself."
Wang Chuxi's eyes instantly reddened, tears streaming down her face as she covered her face and ran away crying.
Seeing that the spectacle was over, the onlookers all turned their attention away and continued eating.
Ming Xiangyang already had little appetite, and after this commotion, he lost all interest in eating and simply put down his chopsticks.
Nearly ten days later, the equipment Jerry sent finally arrived.
Shen Li immediately arranged for a truck to transport the equipment to the factory. Since the instructors were all foreigners, she asked Qin Min to help them settle in at the factory first.
After everything was settled, Shen Li took Fang Yi, Qin Min, and the two foreign chefs to a Western restaurant—as a welcome dinner for them.
Fang Yi and Qin Min could only assist from the sidelines. Neither of them understood English, so they relied on Shen Li for communication throughout the process.
Shen Li calmly and fluently communicated with the two technicians in English, chatting about everything from the details of equipment installation to the local customs and culture. Her tone was natural, professional, and appropriate.
This scene left Qin Min and Fang Yi dumbfounded.
While the two drivers were in the restroom, Qin Min couldn't help but speak, her tone full of admiration: "President Shen's English is amazing! Did you major in English in college?"
In her opinion, even English majors might not be as fluent and skilled as Shen Li.
Shen Li shook her head: "No, I majored in chemistry. But I have an uncle who is very good at foreign languages, and I've been learning from him since I was little, so I was exposed to it a few years earlier."
"I see." Qin Min suddenly realized.
Fang Yi couldn't help but exclaim, "The more I spend time with President Shen, the more I realize that he is so young yet so knowledgeable; it's truly remarkable."
Shen Li smiled and said, "Director Fang, you flatter me. I know you are also a top student who graduated from a prestigious university."
Fang Yi sighed, "The differences between universities are huge!"
At first, both he and Qin Min thought Shen Li was some rich girl who had decided to start a business on a whim. But the longer they spent time together, the clearer it became that she wasn't some rich girl dabbling in something; she was clearly a top student who had entered the workforce early to gain experience!
After dinner, Shen Li first escorted Fang Yi, Qin Min, and the two foreign foremen back to the factory. The factory had dormitories and a canteen, making it convenient for the foremen to stay; the only problem was communication. However, Shen Li figured she would be coming to the factory first thing the next morning, so she didn't think much of it.
Afterwards, she continued to escort Fang Yi and Qin Min back to their respective residences.
Only the three of them remained in the carriage, and for a moment no one spoke, creating a somewhat somber atmosphere.
Shen Li broke the silence first: "Which of you lives closer? I'll take that person home first."
Qin Min quickly waved her hand: "President Shen, there's no need to trouble you. Factory Director Fang and I will get out of the car together."
"It's no trouble at all, it only takes a few minutes by car," Shen Li insisted.
Unable to dissuade her, the two had no choice but to comply. Shen Li first took Fang Yi home, then turned around and took Qin Min home.
Qin Min lived in a somewhat remote place, and the car couldn't even drive in; it had to be parked at the entrance of a dilapidated alley.
Qin Min looked somewhat embarrassed and said awkwardly, "Please excuse me, Mr. Shen, the place I'm staying is a bit messy."
Shen Li shook his head, his tone serious: "You can't choose where you're born, but you can walk your own path in the future. If you're good enough, even if you start from scratch, you can one day own your own pavilions and towers."
Hearing this, Qin Min's eyes instantly welled up with tears, and a warm feeling surged through her heart. President Shen didn't look down on her background; instead, he was encouraging her.
"President Shen, I will definitely work hard!" She nodded vigorously, her voice slightly choked with emotion.
"Do you live here alone?" Shen Li asked.
"Mm." Qin Min nodded.
