Chapter 335: Crazy Gherlos
Chapter 335: Crazy Gherlos
Before Phield could finish speaking, Gherlos instantly bristled.
The anger on her face vanished. Her complexion turned pale, her delicate body trembled slightly, and her thighs unconsciously pressed together as she gritted her teeth.
"Then surrender is even less of an option."
Jamie was basically a toy. She constantly received all sorts of bizarre "missions" from her lord. Those nauseating acts were so disgusting that even the lunatics within the sect found them revolting.
"Enough talk. I’d rather die fighting."
Gherlos slammed her scythe heavily into the ground.
A bizarrely cute yet ugly puppet floated out from behind her and landed on her fair shoulder.
"Combat Technique, Flame Vortex Impact."
The puppet split its mouth open, and a blazing curtain of fire surged forward like a rolling cloud.
"How much damage could a combat technique possibly do? Wait, why do you even know combat techniques?"
Ophelia froze for a moment, surprised that her opponent could use combat techniques at all.
Combat techniques were extremely limited in their effectiveness against Divine Chosen.
Without hesitation, she beat her wings.
Her sturdy dragon wings cleaved through the flames as effortlessly as a ship cutting through waves.
"Ophelia, be careful. She’s destroying the surrounding buildings."
Phield immediately noticed her intentions.
Before the flames had fully dispersed, a series of explosions erupted around Ophelia.
"Combat Technique, Energy Bullet."
A chain of semi-transparent energy projectiles shot from the puppet’s mouth, streaking through the air and bombarding the stone buildings on both sides of Ophelia.
The structures could not withstand the relentless impacts.
Within moments, they began collapsing toward her.
Massive shadows blotted out the sky as countless rocks and clouds of dust crashed downward.
"Watch out! The buildings are coming down!"
Phield felt his scalp go numb watching the seamless execution of her plan.
That woman’s combat instincts were terrifying.
Suddenly, a thought flashed through his mind.
Terrifying combat instincts... wait a second.
She’s trying to kill me!
The instant the realization struck him, a figure burst through the swirling dust.
A crimson scythe shrouded in gray mist was already slashing toward him at an astonishing speed.
"First-Tier Divine Skill, Bloody Ember Dye!"
"Fuck! No wonder lords rarely show themselves. The moment they do, someone tries to chop their head off."
Without the slightest hesitation, Phield pulled a staff from behind his back.
This summoning staff had been the only third-tier staff produced among the batch crafted at the Salt Mine Outpost.
As a life-saving trump card, Phield had never distributed it to anyone else and had carried it with him ever since.
Bzzzz~
Pure power flowed from the magic core into the formation carved within the staff.
A violet gate of the void opened.
A crimson flesh monstrosity emerged from within, cackling wickedly.
"Hehehehe..."
Puchi~
Before the flesh monster could even present its hideous smile to the world, its ugly face exploded.
Twisted.
Torn apart.
Accompanied by nauseating sounds of rupturing flesh, the powerful third-tier creature was obliterated the instant it appeared.
Blood sprayed like a fountain.
A crimson mist spread through the air and lingered for a long time.
"What the hell was that?"
Gherlos’s expression changed slightly.
The sudden appearance of the monster had blocked her fatal strike.
Divine Skills could not be used casually.
Not only did they consume enormous amounts of divine power, but they also entered a period of fatigue and required time to recover.
"Stay away from my lord!"
A thunderous roar erupted from behind.
Ophelia was genuinely panicking.
Her dragon wings beat wildly as she smashed through the collapsed stone walls.
Without the slightest hesitation, she charged forward at full speed.
"Die, you filthy whore!"
"No chance!"
Madness flooded Gherlos’s eyes.
The puppet beside her continuously twisted its head and fired Energy Bullets to hinder Ophelia’s advance.
Meanwhile, Gherlos completely ignored her own safety and swung her massive, monstrous scythe directly at Phield.
"You really don’t need to risk your life like this. What a lunatic."
Phield was genuinely stunned.
This woman looked noble and radiant on the surface, yet she was willing to abandon all defense just to trade her life for his.
What exactly was she trying to accomplish?
"Fortunately, I have trump cards too."
Feeling the overwhelming killing intent pouring from her, Phield did his best to suppress the restless mana within his body.
This was his first true life-and-death battle against a Divine Chosen.
In the presence of divine power, even mana seemed suppressed, like a mouse encountering a cat.
His concentration reached its peak.
Without the slightest fear, he waved his hand.
A black magic circle bloomed.
"Divine Artifact, The Ring of Sin."
"Sapphire Dragonification!"
At the same time, Ophelia released her divine power and cast her skill upon Phield.
Two tremendous enhancements descended simultaneously.
The miniature phantom of a sapphire dragon rapidly coiled around Phield’s wrist.
He almost lost control of the sudden surge of strength.
The Ring of Sin already increased all attributes by thirty percent.
Sapphire Dragonification greatly amplified mana, vitality, and physical strength on top of that.
Clang!
The sword in his hand collided fiercely with Blooddrinker Scythe.
A shower of sparks exploded outward.
Cracking sounds immediately followed.
The steel sword that had accompanied him for so long rapidly developed fractures.
Fortunately, the sapphire dragon phantom quickly flowed into the blade.
The azure sword instantly shone with the brilliance of a Divine Artifact.
"So Little Chubby Dragon had a trick like this too."
Not only was Gherlos stunned.
Even Phield was surprised.
He had originally intended only to defend himself.
However, the moment he realized his strength was now evenly matched with Gherlos’s, he immediately shifted onto the offensive.
Power exploded beneath his feet.
The violent force shattered the street around him.
Phield forcibly pushed Gherlos back and launched a relentless assault.
"Damn it! He actually has a third-tier Divine Artifact too!"
Gherlos dodged the incoming silver sword light and swung her scythe.
To her eyes, Phield’s swordsmanship was riddled with openings.
Unfortunately, she no longer had the opportunity to counterattack.
A fierce gale roared toward her from behind.
The next instant, an overwhelming force slammed into her back.
It felt as though she had been run over by a high-speed train.
Enraged beyond measure, Ophelia grabbed Gherlos by the throat with a single claw.
Dragging her along, she crashed through everything in their path.
Flying low over the ground, Ophelia pinned Gherlos down and ground her mercilessly across the street.
Layers of stone pavement were ripped apart and sent flying.
"Die, you vermin!"
Ophelia showed absolutely no mercy.
"You’re not getting away unharmed either. Even if I die, I’ll take a bite out of you first."
Dragged across the ground in a miserable state, Gherlos’s clothes were completely shredded.
Amid the chaos, she seized an invisible thread and activated a trap she had prepared long ago.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The damaged walls surrounding them collapsed like mountains falling from the heavens.
They came crashing down upon both women.
"Divine Artifact Disassembly. Blooddrinker Scythe... detonate!"
The monstrous scythe exploded instantly.
Countless streaks of crimson light shot into the surrounding ground.
The fragments rapidly formed a massive magic formation.
A gigantic pillar of energy was on the verge of erupting from beneath the earth.
"Whew... so this is the power of a combat-oriented Divine Chosen."
Feeling the terrifying force about to be unleashed, Ophelia could not help but sigh in admiration.
Although she was a Second-Tier Divine Chosen, she belonged to the commander-type category.
When it came to pure combat techniques, she truly could not compare to specialists like this.
"But..."
"You’re still too inexperienced."
Ophelia smiled faintly.
With a single slap, she sent Gherlos flying away.
Then she curled her wings around herself, wrapping her body into the shape of a giant dragon egg.
